IHB Showjumping Classes at Galway County

The first of new Irish Horse Board sponsored showjumping classes got underway at the Galway Show over the weekend. These featured a 5 year old and a 6/7 year old class and were aimed at highlighting young and talented Irish Sport Horses within Ireland. Riders were eager to qualify their horses for the final, which boasted a generous prize fund of €3000 for each competition. Additional prize money was also on offer for the breeder of the winning horse in each class.

Four qualifiers were held over the course of the two days with €500 prize money for each qualifier. Ten horses from each class qualified for the final on Sunday afternoon.

Top spot in the five year old class went to Heracross (ISH) by Ramiro B (BWP), out of Kingsway Clover (RID) by Clover Hill (RID), ridden by Francis Connors. Heracross is owned by Michael Kelleher and was bred by Elsie Woods. Winner of the 6/7 year old class was Credit Cruise (ISH) by Cruising (ISH), out of Bracklin Country Girl (ISH) by Penistone (TB), ridden by Andrew Bourns. Credit Cruise is owned by Deirdre Bourns and was bred by Charles Pidgeon.
