Irish Horse Board Showjumping Classes at Galway County Show

The second leg of the IHB showjumping classes for 5 year olds and 6/7 year olds took place at Galway County Show, running from 17th to 18th May. The first round of qualifiers took place on Saturday, with the top ten horses from each age group being selected to compete in the finals. The second set of qualifiers were held on Sunday, to make up the twenty horses in each age group going through to the afternoon finals.

In the 5 year old final, Richie Moloney rode Gail White (ISH) to victory after an impressive double clear. In the 6/7 year old final, 7 year old Cavalier Andy (ISH) and Lucy Buchanan were the winners, giving Lucy the title of the first woman to win an IHB final this year.

The entries for these IHB showjumping classes were high and it was commonly felt that the standard of jumping was very good. The IHB would like to thank all those involved in the Galway County Show, in particular Brendan Duffy and David Moore for all their effort in making the show a huge success.

The next leg in the IHB series of showjumping classes will take place at the Ballina Show on 9th to 10th July, where €10,000 will again be on offer.
