IHB Showjumping Classes at Limerick Show

The seventh leg in the IHB series of showjumping classes took place at Limerick Show, which ran from 25th to 26th August 2007 at Limerick Racecourse. Entries were down on previous legs, mainly due to six days of jumping in Millstreet last week and the upcoming National Championships. The decision was made not to run Saturday’s qualifiers but to allow all entries to go straight into Sunday’s finals.

The weather was superb on Sunday morning for the first of the IHB classes, the 5 year old final. Despite all the rain over the past few months, the grass arena was in excellent condition and the standard of jumping in this final was very high. Winning the final was Warrenstown Dora (ISH) and Andrew Bourns, who finished in a time of 35.15.

The 6/7 year old final took place after a very exciting Boswell Grand Prix class, which saw Tholm Keane and Ronan Tynan’s Krafy Jack (ISH) take first. In the 6/7 year old final, five horses made it through to the jump off and Tholm Keane looked like scoring another victory with Walterstown Clover (ISH). However, last into the ring, Francis Connors and Heracross (ISH) managed to steal the lead to win the class.

The Grand Final of the IHB Showjumping Series will take place at Cavan Equestrian next Sunday, 2nd September. All horse and rider combinations that have gained points in the IHB Showjumping Finals during the 2007 series will be invited to attend the grand final. These combinations are list below in the league standing tables. A press release with full details of the Grand Final will be issued later today.
