Irish Horse Board Showjumping Classes Grand Final at Iverk

The final leg in the IHB series of showjumping classes took place at Iverk, Piltown, Co. Kilkenny on Thursday 7th September. Based on points accumulated throughout the series, the top horses in each age category were invited to attend the Grand Final. Points were also being awarded at Iverk to determine the top three horse and rider combinations in each age group in the league.

In the 5 year old final, Delyth Collins rode a fantastic round against the clock on Creevagh Miss Jones (ISH). Last to go, the duo completed the jump off track in 36.01 seconds and left all fences standing, to win the 5 year old final where a prize fund of €5,000 was on offer for the top six places. This win meant Delyth gained enough points to split the third place Riders’ Prize of €500 with Andrew Bourns and Gowran Park (ISH). Winning the 5 year old Riders’ Prize of €1,000 was Linda Courtney and H Two (ISH), with Richard Maloney and Gail White (ISH) taking the second prize of €500.

A further €5,000 prize fund as well as €2,000 Rider’s Prize fund was on offer for the 6/7 year old Grand Final. Lucy Buchanan and Cavalier Andy (ISH) took the honours in this age group, finishing the jump off clear in 31.01 seconds. After a consistently strong performance throughout the series, Lucy was deserving of the €1,000 Leading Riders’ Prize. Finishing second in both the Grand Final and the league Richard Kerins and Starboard (ISH) took the second place Riders’ Prize of €500. Starboard was also the highest placed 6 year old in the 6/7 year old league. Clem McMahon and Badgerhill Cruise (ISH) took third.
