Irish Horse Board Sponsors Young Horse Classes at Cavan

The final in this year’s series of Irish Horse Board sponsored showjumping classes for young Irish Sport Horses took place this weekend at Cavan Equestrian Centre. These classes featured a 5 year old and a 6/7 year old class and boasted a generous prize fund of €5000 for each competition. Additional prize money was also on offer for the breeder of the winning horse in each class.

Twenty horses from two qualifiers made it through to the finals in each class, which were held on Sunday the 14th November 2005.

Of the twenty horses that qualified for the 5 year old final nine made it through to the jump off. After an exciting jump off Heracross (ISH) ridden by Francis Connors took top spot. Heracross (ISH) is by Ramiro B (BWP) out of Kingsway Clover (RID) by Clover Hill (RID) and was bred by Elise Woods. Of the four Irish Horse Board sponsored showjumping classes for 5 year olds that have been held this year, Heracross (ISH) and Francis Connors have won three and came second in one. Jingle du Moulin (ISH) ridden by Darragh Kenny came in a close second place.

Of the twenty horses that qualified for the 6 and 7 year old final seven made it through to the jump off. Last to go was Mullaghdrin Gold Rain (ISH) and Shane Breen who stole top place from Welcome Captain (ISH) and Gabriel Slattery who had to settle for second place. Mullaghdrin Gold Rain (ISH) had also finished out on top of the Irish Horse Board sponsored 6 and 7 year old class at Kill International just the weekend before.
