The Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series 2008 culminated in the Grand Finals, which were held at last weekend’s National Championships at Barnadown. Horse and rider combinations that had gained points throughout the series were invited to attend. The prize fund at the Grand Finals was almost €17,000, including riders’ prizes and breeders’ prizes.

In the 5 year old grand final, Mervyn Clarke Jnr. and Lady Latt (ISH) were victorious. This win earned the duo the top prize of €2,000 and was their fourth win in the series. Despite this win, John Floody’s performance in the Grand Final with Coppindell (ISH) was enough to leave him one point ahead of Mervyn to take the 5 year old league title.

The 6/7 year old grand finals saw John Floody score another victory, when he took the class with Michael Smith’s gelding Larkhill Cruiser (ISH). However, it was Conor Drain and Loughview Lou-Lou (ISH) who were victorious in the league, taking home the top prize of €1,000.

In addition to running the studbook Grand Finals at the National Championship, Horse Sport Ireland also provided a prize fund for the breeders and owners of the highest placed eligible Irish Sport Horse National Champions in the 4, 5, 6, 7/8, Speed and Grand Prix classes. Results are detailed below.
