The penultimate leg of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook Showjumping Series took place at Ballina Show, which ran from 10^th to 12^th July. This leg was the last chance for horses and riders to qualify for the Grand Finals, which will run at the Tattersalls Ward Union Hunt International Show from 24^th to 26^th July.

The two qualifiers took place on Friday morning, with the top 20 in each class qualifying for Sunday’s finals. On Sunday morning, the 5 Year Old Final was the first class of the day and the standard of jumping was very high. Splitting the €4,500 prize fund were nine combinations, who managed to produce double clear rounds – I’m One Cool Cookie (ISH) & John McGuinness, Tummery Limelight (ISH) & Ita McDermott, Ardragh Stein (ISH) & Gerard Clarke, Special Lux (ISH) & Stephen Egan, Emerald Innovative (ISH) & Shane Quinn, Roadstown Lord (ISH) & Clem McMahon, Porsch’s Diamond (ISH) & Conor Drain, Drumhanny Banner (ISH) & John McGuinness and HHS Pinky (ISH) & Marion Hughes.

The 6/7 Year Old Final saw seven combinations making it through to the jump off. Second last to jump was Coppindell (ISH) and Trevor Breen, who left all fences standing in an unbeatable time of 32.01 to win the class. Full results, including breeding information and League standings, are detailed below.

It is all to play for now in both the 5 Year Old and 6/7 Year Old League. Currently leading the 5 Year Old League is Conor Drain with Porsch’s Diamond (ISH) on 20 points, with John McGuinness and I’m One Cool Cookie (ISH) lying in second place on 17 points. League points of 5 point for a double clear and 2 points for a single clear will also be on offer in the 5 Year Old Grand Final at Tattersalls. The top three combinations in the 5 Year Old League will receive league prizes of €1,000, €500 and €250.

In the 6/7 Year Old League, Clem McMahon and Belle Rock (ISH) hold poll position on 26 points, with Ross Mulholland and Touched Up (ISH) in second place on 21 points. League points from first to tenth (10,8,6,4,3,2,1,1,1,1) will be award at Tattersalls with the same League prizes of €1,750 being awarded to the top three.

The 6/7 Year Old Grand Final will take place on Saturday 25^th in the Main Arena at Tattersalls. The 5 Year Old Grand Final will take place on Sunday 26^th and will be the only leg of the Series where the 5 year olds will jump against the clock. There will be €5,000 on offer for each of the Grand Final classes meaning a total prize fund, including League and breeders’ prizes, of €15,000 will be on offer.

Entries for horse/rider combinations that have qualified to compete in the Grand Finals will close on Wednesday 22^nd July at 5pm. Entries should be made with Sheila Kelly (086 8254307). The full lists of horse/rider combinations that have qualified for Tattersalls are detailed below.
