The talents of the Irish Sport Horse in the discipline of eventing are well supported by the fact that the ISH studbook has been first in the WBFSH eventing rankings for the last eleven years. 2006 saw the seventh year of the FEHL, which has the overall objective of further developing the talents and skills of both Irish horses and riders, through a series of competitions specifically designed towards education, preparation and testing in a constructive and progressive manner

The 81st Annual Connemara Pony Show, which was sponsored by the Irish Horse Board, got under way last Thursday, 18th of August, at The Showgrounds, Clifden. The Show was a resounding success with huge crowds, from both home and abroad, gathering to witness a magnificent exhibition of top class Connemara Ponies.

The Irish Horse Board was delighted to support two ISA classes last weekend. The first class was the Irish Draught Yearling Filly Championship, which took place in Roscommon on 20th August. The second class was the Two Year Old Filly All Ireland Championship, which took place in Kildysart on 21st August.

The Irish Horse Board and Dressage Ireland held the final two qualifiers of the Potential Irish Dressage Horse Class over the weekend at Danescroft, Co Down and at Tullamore Show, Co Offaly.

The Irish Horse Board was delighted to sponsor this years’ Breeders Championship at the Failte Ireland Dublin Horse Show 2005. A substantial prize fund of €20,000 was on offer from the Irish Horse Board, with a first prize of €5,000. Other sizeable prizes were awarded down to 10th place. Incorporated into the prize fund was a purse of €5,000, which was allocated to the top three foals by an approved Thoroughbred sire.
