Future Event Horse League Final

The talents of the Irish Sport Horse in the discipline of eventing are well supported by the fact that the ISH studbook has been first in the WBFSH eventing rankings for the last eleven years. 2006 saw the seventh year of the FEHL, which has the overall objective of further developing the talents and skills of both Irish horses and riders, through a series of competitions specifically designed towards education, preparation and testing in a constructive and progressive manner.

In addition to training clinics and the inaugural appearance of the FEHL at the Dublin Horse Show, eight qualifiers were held throughout the year leading to the final at Tattersalls on 25th September. As well as the competition held at the FEHL Final, a League Accumulator Final was run throughout the year. Based on points accumulated throughout 2006, the Irish Horse Board awarded prize money of €1,500 in both the 4 Year Old League and the 5 Year Old League. In addition, the IHB also awarded trophies to the highest placed mares in the Final.

In the 4 Year Old age group, Mary Ahern’s Patrickswell Access (ISH) was victorious on the day, while Alice Kehoe’s Westwinds El Divo (ISH) was the winner of the 4 Year Old League. The 5 Year Old group was also a well supported event, with Alice Kehoe again taken poll position this time with Westwinds Diego (ISH) in the Final, while John Ronan’s Kings Marshall (ISH) was the winner of the 5 Year Old League.
