The first leg of the H.S.I. National Winter Tour took place at Claregalway Equestrian Centre on Saturday 15^th November. With €4,000 in prize money on offer, entries were high in all seven classes. The four horse classes were held first, with the three pony classes taking place in the afternoon. A good crowd gathered to watch the action and the standard of competition was high.

Winning the Amateur class was Monard French Link (ISH) and Debra Prendergast. In the 1m class, John Fahy and Lackyle Limited Edition (ISH) took first place, while Emma McIntyer and Erris Flight (ISH) took the 1m10 class. The final horse qualifier, the 1m20 class, was won by Declan McGarry and Carrow Diamond (ISH). In the 128CD class, six riders shared first place by jumping double clear rounds and the 138CD class saw eight clear rounds. In the final class of the day, the 148CD ponies, there were nine double clears.

Horse Sport Ireland would like to thank the Duffy family for all their efforts in ensuring that the first qualifier on the Winter Tour was a huge success, and to congratulate to all competitors at Claregalway. This weekend the action moves to Killossery Lodge Stud, with the horse classes taking place on Saturday and the pony classes on Sunday. All are welcome, be it on four legs to try and take home some prize money or on two legs to cheer along and support.

National Winter Tour Grand Final, which will be held at Cavan Equestrian Centre on Saturday 13^th December.
