Horse Sport Ireland were delighted to support the Failte Ireland Dublin Horse Show 2009, by sponsoring the 4, 5 & 6 Year Old Showjumping Championships, 3 Year Old Loose Jumping Championships, 3 Year Old Future Performance Championship, Breeders Championship and Working Hunter Championship. Horse Sport Ireland also provided €4,000 in breeders prizes at the Show.

The first of the Championships to take place was the 3 Year Old Future Performance class, which was won by Mr & Mrs Kieran Ryan’s chestnut mare by Soolmoy Clover Man (ISH). Thursday evening saw Charles Hanley taking the 3 Year Old Loose Jumping Championship with his colt by Captain Clover (ISH). This class is held in memory of former Chairman of the Irish Horse Board, Michael Osborne.

On Friday morning the prestigious Breeders Championship took place, which is held in memory of Lynn Aldridge, former Director General of the Irish Horse Board. Winning the Breeders Championship title was Clonakilty native Kieran O’Gorman with his mare Kildysart Royale (ISH) and her filly foal by Lux Z (HANN).

On Saturday morning the first of the young horse showjumping championships took place. Catherine Thornton took the class with David Campbell’s Derryinver Luxury Cruise (ISH). On Sunday the action moved to the Main Arena, with the 6 Year Old Showjumping Championships being won by Cathal McMunn and Beer Hunter (ISH). In the 5 Year Old Final, Stephen Egan and Desmond Judge’s Special Lux (ISH) took the Championship.
