HorseHeaven League & Championship 2007

The HorseHeaven League will culminate in a Championship at Ballinacoola on Sunday 22nd July.

With the objective of creating greater interest and focus on young Irish Sport Horses taking part in Novice and Pre-Novice classes, as well as assisting owners and providing a platform for buyers, the top twenty horses in the HorseHeaven League will be invited to attend the HorseHeaven Championship at Ballinacoola.

The Irish Horse Board are delighted to be associated with this event, and will provide a breeder’s prize in the Novice section.

The following press release details the action to date, as well as providing some important information relating to the Final. A provisional programme is also included.

PRESS RELEASE - IMMEDIATE

TIGHT AT THE TOP FOR THE FINAL ROUND OF HORSEWARE LEAGUE

With the unfortunate cancellation of Dunany this weekend, there now remains only one more event (at Grove on Sunday 15th July) in the HORSEWARE NOVICE and PRE-NOVICE LEAGUE.

However, the cancellation of Dunany does not affect the opportunity to qualify for the HORSEWARE CHAMPIONSHIPS at Ballinacoola on Sunday 22nd July. In the Horseware League, competitors can count their best 6 results out of the total of the 9 possible results – but there is no requirement to have 6 results, only that no more than 6 results will count for league points. Horseware have put up €3,000 in prize money for these two league competitions and Grove represents the last chance to climb the league ladders!

Following the completion of the last qualifying event at Grove, the top 20 competitors in both the HORSEWARE 5 & 6 year old NOVICE LEAGUE and the top 20 competitors in the HORSEWARE 4 & 5 year old PRE-NOVICE LEAGUE will compete at Ballinacoola on Sunday 22nd July in the HORSEWARE CHAMPIONSHIPS at which a further €3,500 in prize money can be won. If any of the 20 qualifying competitors cannot run in the Championships for any reason, then the next highest placed competitor will be invited to take their place.

The concept of the HORSEWARE LEAGUE & CHAMPIONSHIPS has attracted international attention and the organisers at Ballinacoola already know of potential buyers from the U.S.A., Canada, Germany and Britain who are travelling to the Wicklow venue to see the top Irish young event horses in action. And to make the vent more exciting, competitors in the Horseware Novice Championship at Ballinacoola will do their show jumping last – and this will be run in reverse order, so the tension is likely to be palpable!

PROVISIONAL PROGRAMME OF EVENTS
Until all entries are received (and that is not until 6 days before the event) we cannot be totally certain of the timing of all classes but set out below is our best “guesstimate” at this stage

8:00 a.m. Dressage: Start for all classes in 10 different arenas and is expected to be completed by about 12:30 p.m.

9:15 a.m. Showjumping: This will commence in both arenas -
Main Arena: Novice show jumping (except the Horseware Novice 5 & 6 year old Championship – this class will show jump after cross country in the afternoon)
No. 2 Arena: Pre-Novice Classes

12:00 p.m. Sponsors & Invited Guests Marquee: Please join Susan & Tim Philips for an informal buffet lunch and drinks, all provided by Wild Thyme. Guests are invited make use of the marquee at any time – lunch, tea, coffee and wine will continue to be available throughout the afternoon so there is plenty of time to watch the Two Star cross country and the Horseware Championships and still enjoy a leisurely lunch

12:45 p.m. Cross Country: Start of the Bluegrass Feeds Advanced CNC ** Class on Tommy Brennan’s new Two Star track. This is the top cross country class of any One Day Event in Ireland this year, with the country’s top horse and riders seeking places on this year team for the European Championships. This will be followed by the CNC** Class and then the course will be changed to the Novice track and the first class will be the Horseware Novice 5 & 6 year old Championship, followed by the remaining classes.

Cross Country is expected to be completed by about 6:30 p.m.

3:30 p.m. Showjumping: The Horseware Novice 5 & 6 year old Championship and both Two Star classes will show jump in the Main Arena. It is hoped that all three classes will jump in reverse order, the leaders after dressage and cross country going last and thus increasing the tension for both participants and spectators alike.
