Irish Horse Board Sponsorship at the Failte Ireland Dublin Horse Show 2007

The Irish Horse Board were delighted to sponsor five classes at this year’s Dublin Horse Show. Among the aims of the Dublin Horse Show is to support the Irish Sport Horse breeder and producer, through showcasing and developing a market for Irish bred horses.

On Thursday evening, the ever-popular 3 Year Old Loose Jumping Championship took place. The IHB sponsored prize money of €15,000 for this class, which is held in memory of Michael Osborne. One of the last horses into the ring, it was Ralph Morgan’s Irish Sport Horse mare by Chacoa (HOLST) that took the Championship.

On Saturday morning, in the main arena, the 5 Year Old Carling King National Showjumping Championship took place. After two qualifiers, one on Wednesday and one on Thursday, 16 horses were entered for this final. Winning the class was Trevor Bartlett and Colgan Cruise (ISH). The IHB were delighted to provide €15,000 in prize money for this prestigious class.

The Irish Horse Board also sponsored the 4 Year Old Mr Springfield National Showjumping Championship, in the amount of €15,000. Two qualifiers were held over the week and the top six horses on points were eligible to enter the final. The horses were jumped over a course of fences by their own rider and also by an international showjumper, before being awarded points based on their performances. Victoria Clarke and Java Keltic Courage (ISH) were the eventual winners in this class, taking home the top prize of €3,360.

As in 2006, the Irish Horse Board were proud to sponsor the Breeders’ Championship, which is held in memory of Lynn Aldridge. €20,000 was on offer for this championship, aimed at showcasing high quality mares and their progeny. In the end it was Margaret Jeffares’ mare Debbies Clover (ISH) that was victorious. Debbies Clover (ISH) has a colt foal at foot by Master Imp (TB). Incorporated into the prize fund was a purse of €5,000, allocated to the top three foals by a Throughbred sire. The winning foal was Timpany King (ISH), a colt foal by Nigrasine (TB) and owned by Paula Howard.

On Sunday, the Irish Horse Board sponsored the Working Hunter Performance Championship. €15,000 was on offer from the IHB to the winner of this class. Sharamiro (ISH) was judged Supreme Champion, while Dervish (ISH) was awarded Reserve Champion.

In addition to the prize money on offer in each of the above classes, the Irish Horse Board also awarded Breeders’ Prizes of €1,000 to the breeder of the winning horse in each of the five IHB sponsored classes.
