IHB Support of the Limerick Matron 2007

The Irish Horse Board were delighted to support the Limerick Matron, which took place at Limerick Show on Saturday 25th August. The Limerick Matron aims to promote and showcase the traditional breeding of the Irish half-bred mares, with the hope that the resulting progeny will make top class Irish Sport Horses.

The IHB awarded premiums of €500 to the top ten mares in foal to or with a foal at foot by an Approved Thoroughbred sire, registered in the Irish Horse Register. Premiums are payable on registration of the foal.

The standard in the class was very high and in the end it was Margaret Jeffares’ Debbies Clover (ISH) that was victorious. This mare, by Farney Clover (ISH), has a 2007 colt foal by Master Imp (TB) at foot.

The Irish Horse Board would like to thank all those involved in the Limerick Matron and Limerick Show for all their efforts in ensuring this year’s class was such a success. The IHB would also like to congratulate all the exhibitors in this prestigious class.
