Irish Horse Board Ballindenisk International Horse Trials 2006

Last weekend, the Irish Horse Board sponsored the World Cup Qualifier at Ballindenisk, Co. Cork. Running over two days, the IHB Ballindenisk International Horse Trials hosted the CIC***-W, as well as a CIC** and CIC*.

The weekend proved to be a great success in all events. The dressage phase, as well as the 2* and 1* showjumping took place on Saturday. Sunday morning saw the first of the 3* World Cup Qualifier horses tackle the cross country course. The 3* showjumping then took place, as the 2* and 1* horses headed out on the cross country. Both the cross country course and showjumping tracks were superbly laid out, asking questions of both horses and riders competing.

In the CIC*** W, Park Pilot and Matthew Wright (Gbr) claimed first place after a superb showjumping round. The highest placed Irish Sport Horse was Kilkishen ridden by Geoff Curran (Irl), who finished in second place. Matthew Wright was also successful in the 2*, where he partnered his ISH Grove Joucas to victory. In the 1*, Master Mexico (ISH) with Michael Ryan (Irl) finished in the top position.

In addition to being the title sponsors of the Ballindenisk Interntional Horse Trials, the Irish Horse Board also awarded prizes to the top three placed ISHs by an approved stallion and with their dam recorded in the 3*, 2* and 1*. A total of €3550 was on offer to the owners. In the CIC***W, the recipients were Quick Thinking, Colour Coded and Skibereen Eagle. In the 2* Grove Joucas, Another Cavalier and Gi Goldrush claimed the IHB prizes. Finally in the 1*, Master Mexico, Midget On A Mission and Shannondale Que were awarded the IHB prize money.

The 2006 Irish Horse Board Ballindenisk International Horse Trials were a huge success. The competition attracted many spectators and will be televised on Sky Sports television next weekend. The IHB would like to extend its extreme gratitude to the Fell family, who put so much effort into organising this prestigious and important event.
