Irish Horse Board Sponsorship at the Limerick Show

Last weekend the Irish Horse Board sponsored a number of classes at the Limerick Show which highlighted quality Irish mares.

The first of these classes was the Limerick Matron Championship. This class was open to mares aged three years and older that had previously qualified for the Limerick Lady Championships providing they are in foal to, or have a foal at foot to an Approved Thoroughbred stallion. Judges, Pat Gleeson and John Kennedy had a tough decision to make but in the end it was Hurst Show Horse’s ‘Tattygare My Fair Lady’ by Star Kimgdom (RID) who was crowed the Limerick Matron.

The second of the IHB sponsored classes was the Irish Draught Two Year Old Filly Championships. IHB premiums of €150 were awarded to each exhibitor in the class. Taking first place was Frenchfort Tana (ID) by Castana (RID), owned by Pat and Daniel Finn and bred by Francis Laffenly. Coming in a close second was a filly by Grange Bouncer (RID) owned and bred by Edward Delahunty.

The last of the IHB classes at the Limerick Show was the Limerick Lady Championships. This class is open to 2 year old fillies suitable for producing hunters, showjumpers and eventers provided they meet the eligibility criteria. Finishing in first place and coming out on top of this prestigious class was a filly by Peter Rhodes(TB), owned and bred by J.J. Bowe.
