Irish Horse Board Supporting the Irish Shows Association

Last weekend, in an aim to secure the future of the Irish Sport Horse industry through support of high quality mares, the Irish Horse Board awarded premiums of €150 to each exhibitor in two Irish Shows Association All Ireland Championships. The first of these championships was the Irish Draught Yearling Filly Championship, which took place at the Roscommon Show on Saturday 19th August. Winning the class was Denis Dullen’s Crannagh Hero filly, bred by Eddie Murphy. Eddie enjoyed huge success in Roscommon, being the breeder of the top three fillies and the owner of the fillies placed second and third.

On Sunday 20th August, the IHB supported the ISA show at Kildysart. Here, premiums of €150 were presented to all participants in the Half Bred Two Year Old Filly Championship. A large crowd braved the rain to see thirteen top class fillies compete for the title of All Ireland Champion Two Year Old Filly. Finishing in first place was Hurst Show Horses’ filly by Porsch, who qualified for the Championship at Armagh Show. Taking Reserve Champion was Clonakilty Agricultural College’s filly by Big Sink Hope.

The Irish Horse Board is delighted to have been associated with both the Roscommon and Kildysart All Ireland Championships. It was commonly agreed that the standard of fillies was exceptionally high. The IHB would like to thank all those involved in the organisation and running of these ISA shows. Premiums of €150 will also be on offer to exhibitors in the Half Bred Filly Foal Championship at the Moate Show and the Irish Draught Two Year Old Filly Championship at the Limerick Show, this weekend.
