Irish Horse Board Supports Limerick Horse Show
The Irish Horse Board is pleased to announce the support of three classes at this year’s Limerick Horse Show; the Aughinish Limerick Matron Championship, the Special Showing/Performance class for Irish-bred Hunters/Eventers and the Irish Draught 2 Year Old Filly class.
In the Aughinish Limerick Matron Championship, the Irish Horse Board will fund 10 premiums of €500 each for the highest placed mares. This class is open to Aughinish Limerick Lady qualifiers, aged 3 years and over, provided that the mare is in foal to or has a foal at foot by a stallion listed in the IHR as follows:
a) Thoroughbred
b) RID
c) ISH stallion (provided the stallion is of TB/RID cross)
The Irish Horse Board hopes that this class will highlight quality mares with traditional Irish breeding.
The Irish Horse Board will also sponsor a Special Showing/Performance Class for Irish-bred Hunters/Eventers. Horses will be shown first in-hand, then ridden by the exhibitor over a short course of working hunter-type fences.
To be eligible for this class horses must exceed 160cms and be aged 4 or 5 years. The horse must also be registered with the IHR, with the following breeding:
- Sire (approved):
a) Thoroughbred
b) RID
c) ISH providing his breeding is TB/RID - Dam – by a stallion in A, B or C above and entered in the IHR
- Each animal shown may, at the discretion of the judges, receive a premium of €100. In addition, prizes will be awarded as follows – 1st €750, 2nd €500, 3rd €350, 4th €200, 5th €100 & 6th €100.
The Irish Horse Board, in conjunction with the Irish Shows Association, is supporting the Irish Draught 2 Year Old Filly Class. This championship is confined to ID 2 year old fillies that are the progeny of RID mares, or appendix mares, and RID stallions. Premiums of €150 each will be awarded to each exhibitor in the class.
