Leader Star leads the way in the Irish Horse Board Breeders Championship

The Irish Horse Board was delighted to sponsor this years’ Breeders Championship at the Failte Ireland Dublin Horse Show 2005. A substantial prize fund of €20,000 was on offer from the Irish Horse Board, with a first prize of €5,000. Other sizeable prizes were awarded down to 10th place. Incorporated into the prize fund was a purse of €5,000, which was allocated to the top three foals by an approved Thoroughbred sire.

Leader Star, the ISH mare by I’m A Star (TB) out of a Pride of Shaunlara (RID) mare, claimed victory in the Irish Horse Board Breeders Championship at the Dublin Horse Show last week.

Prizes were awarded to the top three foals by an approved Thoroughbred sire. Leader Star was again victorious in the foal section of the class. The top three places were awarded to her foal by Big Sink Hope (TB) standing at Atlantic Stud in Co. Clare, followed by a foal out of Kief Princess (ISH) by Ghareeb standing at Kiltealy Stud in Co. Wexford, with a foal out of Rosewood Chiff Chaff (ISH) by Nash Me (TB) standing at Kealderra Stud in Co. Clare, taking the final spot.

The Breeders Championship is a class that showcases high quality Irish mares and their progeny. This year’s class was a definite success, with the general consensus being that the standard of both mares and foals was very high.

The Breeders Championship Cup was presented in memory of Lynn Aldridge, former Director General of the Irish Horse Board.
