Who We Are
The Irish Horse Board was founded in 1993 with responsibility for the sport horse sector. It was established in order to give the breeders a say in the running of their own industry. The Board is a co-operative society with over 15,000 shareholders and 13 directors, 10 of whom are elected.
The objectives of the Irish Horse Board are to:
- Maintain the Irish Horse Register, which incorporates the Irish Sport Horse Studbook and the Irish Draught Horse Studboook
- Operate Schemes to Improve the Quality of the Irish Sport Horse
- Promote and Market the Irish Sport Horse at home and abroad
- Assist in Equestrian Training and Equestrian Tourism
