Amendment to Press Release ~ Irish Sport Horse Studbook finishes second at Le Lion d'Anger, France

Midget On A Mission, ridden by Joesph Murphy (Irl) was part of the Irish Sport Horse team which finished 2nd at Le Lion d'Anger and not Tinkabella ridden by Steven Smith as previously mentioned.

Le Lion d’Angers 2006:

The Irish Sport Horse Studbook once again confirmed it’s standing by finishing second in the FEI World Breeding Eventing Championships for Young Horses at Le Lion d’Angers last week. This placing was in the World Breeding Trophy category and was calculated from the overall results of the 6 and 7 year old horses taking place in the CCI* and CCI** over the week.

Irish Sport Horses also faired well in the individual results after a tough four days of competition. While the weather was fine for the showjumping on Sunday, conditions were rainy for most of the rest of the week. However, the Irish Sport Horses coped well and put in some superb performances on the cross- country phase of the event.

The horses chosen to represent the Irish Sport Horse Studbook were selected based on performance throughout the year and their participation was supported by the IHB by means of a travel grant. The horses that travelled to Le Lion d’Angers were as follows:

6 Year Olds:

As with last years’ event, the cross-country course was imaginatively designed and included a rabbit fence at the first water, as well as an owl fence towards the end of the course.

The Irish Horse Board is proud to have been associated with the Irish Sport Horse team that travelled to Le Lion d’Angers and would like to thank all the riders, owners and breeders for their efforts and congratulate them on their performances. The IHB would also like to extend sincere appreciation to Lars Christensson, Performance Manager for Eventing Ireland, for all his hard work.
