The 2007 Burghley Young Event Horse Final - Burghley Horse Trials
August 30th-September 2nd 2007

The winners of both the 4 and 5 year old young event horse finals held at this years Burghley International Horse Trials were both Irish bred horses.

The 4 year old winner, Eye Candy, gained a final mark of 81 to take the top place. This chestnut mare is by the Thoroughbred sire Moothyeb (TB) out of Ballkenly Cross (ISH). Eye Candy was bred by Sean O’Rourke from Co. Down, and has set her name in the record books as being the first mare to win this final.

The five year old winner, Pebbly Grand Design (ISH), competed in the 4 year old final last year, but took this year’s top honours in the five year old section with 99 points. Pebbly Grand Design, ridden by Hayley Hankey, is an Irish-bred bay gelding by the approved Dutch- bred stallion Maltstriker (KWPN) out of Dysart Lass (ISH). Tommy Fitzpatrick from Co. Clare is the breeder of Pebbly Grand Design.
