It was a fantastic weekend for Irish Sport Horses on both the eventing and showjumping circuits. In Lexington, Kentucky, Phillip Dutton (USA) rode Connaught (ISH) to take title in the Rolex Three Day Event 2008. Lying third after dressage, the duo increased their lead by moving up to second place after cross country. They won the event after completing a perfect showjumping round in front of a large crowd.

Nicholas Finnerty, Breeding Manager of Horse Sport Ireland, on behalf of the Irish Sport Horse Studbook, and Sue Rowdon, representing the Irish Draught Horse Society of North America, were delighted to be able to make a presentation to the winning rider, Phillip Dutton (USA).

In Goteberg, Sweden, the Rolex FEI World Cup Showjumping Final took place. After putting in string performances all week, Rich Fellers (USA) and Flexible (ISH) finished in second place. The chestnut stallion is by the famous stallion Cruising (ISH), who coincidentally also took second place at the World Cup in 1999 with Trevor Coyle (Irl). Ireland’s Jessica Kurten performed well to finish in a very respectable fourth position, with Castle Forbes Libertina.
