Teagasc Educational Tour to Holland 2010

A Young Breeders training day will be held at Glenamaddy Equestrian Centre this weekend, with emphasis towards the International Young Breeders Competition. Training is to occur this Sunday, 29th March, between 1.00am and 4.30pm at Glennamaddy Equestrian Centre, Glennamaddy Co. Galway. All are welcome – young and old!

The Young Breeders Competition run by Horse Sport Ireland, in conjunction with Teagasc, took place at Gurteen College on Tuesday the 29th of July 2008. Almost 40 young breeders demonstrated their ability to present young horses, under the watchful eyes of judges, Col. Ned Campion, Tom Slattery, George Chapman and Philip Coppithorne.

The National German Young Breeders Competition took place last weekend, from the 6th to the 8th of July in Dillenburg, Germany. Fifteen Studbooks took part in the competition, which for the first year took on an international dimension, with teams from the Irish Sport Horse Studbook and the Danish Warmblood Studbook taking part.

In 2006 the Irish Horse Board, in association with Teagasc, launched the Irish Horse Board Young Breeders Competition, which took place at Gurteen College on the 27th of July. Following this competition the highest placed six competitors in each age group (senior and junior) were selected to receive further training in judging and showing horses.
