Ireland Relegated from Samsung Super League

Despite strong performances from the Irish team in the Nations Cup at Barcelona, 5th place was not good enough to keep the team in the Superleague. However, Irish Sport Horses had some strong results over the week on the showjumping circuit. Most prestigious of these results was at the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses at Lanaken, where Cavalier Andy (ISH) and Lucy Buchanan finished 4th in the 7 year old Grand Final. Full Lanaken results will be issued in a separate press release. At Barcelona, Captain Shane Carey and Lismakin (ISH) enjoyed success, winning the Diputacio de Barcelona Trophy 1m45 class and placing second in the Trofeo Coca Cola 1m50 Accumulator.

In eventing, the Junior European Championships took place at Necarne Castle. Also taking place in Irvinestown was the Necarne International Horse Trials, where CCI**, CCI* and CCNP** events were ran in addition to the Junior Europeans. In the Juniors Europeans Camilla Spiers was the highest placed Irish rider, who finished in 13th position on Portersize Just A Jiff (ISH). The CCI** and CCI* were dominated by Irish Sport Horses, with both Irish and foreign riders. Full results are detailed below.
