Following the success of the Irish Horse Board Young Breeders Competition in 2006, the IHB is delighted to announce the details of the Young Breeders Competition 2007. This year’s competition will be held at Gurteen College, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary on Tuesday the 31st of July.
Competitors will be divided into two age groups in accordance with the age categories eligible to qualify for the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses Young Breeders Competition 2008:

The competition will consist of five different sections:
(i) Theory
(ii) Presenting a horse in hand
(iii) Judging the gaits of loose horses

(v) Ranking three mares on conformation.
The highest placed six competitors will be chosen from each age category and will receive coaching during the following months from which the final selection will be made for the teams travelling to the WBFSH Young Breeders Competition in 2008 to represent the Irish Sport Horse Studbook.
The Irish Horse Board hopes that the Young Breeders Competition will encourage young people to get involved in the judging and showing of horses and would like to thank Teagasc for their assistance with this competition.
