Ireland’s Shane Breen on board his speed specialist, Royal Concorde (ISH), a stallion owned and bred by Carmel Ryan from County Waterford, won the Hamburg Speed Derby on Sunday. A delighted Shane said, "I have been here before, with Royal Concorde, and we were 5th and I like coming here not only because of its similarity to home but also because it is so nice here. The facilities especially for the horses are great. It is of course nice to win as well though!”

Shane’s form continued when he finished in ninth place on Mullaghdrin Gold Rain (ISH) in the €105,000 Riders Tour Derby.

In Madrid, Irish fortune was also running high, when Marion Hughes (Irl) took several placings with HHS Fortuna (ISH) and HHS Cashmere (ISH). John Whitaker (Gbr) and Casino (ISH) finished in joint fourth place in the €25,000 Puissance at the same event.

In La Courneuve, France, Tim Stockdale (Gbr) and the eight-year-old Kalico Bay (ISH) were victorious in the €20,000 1m40 class. While in Eindhoven, the Army Equitation School riders enjoyed a good weekend, with Captain Shane Carey (Irl) and River Foyle (ISH) placing second in the €40,000 Eindhoven Derby.
